/vr/ - Retro Games

Alright /vr/ today I've finished Breath of Fire, the plot felt like a bargin bin version of some generic anime. It played like every other JRPG of the era but beyond needing to heal you didn't really need to use strategies outside of some of the boss fights, it does have a dragon form gimmick but really it just let you do more damage.

Frequently todo fetch quest, like you get an item that let's you understand the music people but then you find out from some random NPC in the town that you need to get a flute from his home town which you don't buy you find in some old guys bed. Also you totally give the old man a hand job for some gold in that one town no way you were just rubbing his shoulders.

I don't know if it's just me not playing good JRPG, or if JRPG just aren't for me. Maybe someday I'll find a JRPG other than Chrono Trigger that I can admit I atleast liked.

How were you supposed to figure out how to get the good ending on your own?
