I want to play a Mario Party game with some friends later tonight. Which one has the best boards and mini games?

Day/Night one was the only good gc entry. Because they actually worked on the boards.

4 is the closest to the N64 games but the boards are all gray walkways over jpegs and the layouts and new items (mega and mini mushrooms) are shit. Minigames are great though.
5 changed the item system to orbs that you can only get randomly and have to spend money to use and the boards are mediocre other than pirate dream. Minigames range from pretty good to some of the worst in the series (in get a rope you just pick a fucking rope that's the game.)
6 is fixed the orb system and added the day night system from that one board in mario party 2. Probably the best board gameplay out of the gamecube games. Minigames are decent too but I think other games have better ones.
7 is more of 6 without the day night system but added a bowser meter that takes up way too much time. The boards are all gimmicks but they're decent. Games just take forever with all the shit going on. Pagoda Peak is KINO.

Easily the best board in the series. The only problem with 7 is that characters have playability tiers tied to how good their personal orb is.

6 > 7 > 4 >>>>> 5
6 is prime Mario Party peak. Best items, best roster, best boards and some of the best minigames.
7 is good too, with Pagoda Peak being one of the top 3 boards in Mario Party history, along with 8 player chaos. Kinda dragged down by being the slowest Mario Party (thanks, Bowser) and your character choice actually having gameplay differences due to character items.
4 has some of THE best minigames in the franchise. Unfortunately it's dragged down by having some of THE worst boards in the franchise (with the Boo map in contention for THE worst).
5 is total trash. Awful minigames, awful boards, items are now 100% RNG with half of them being worthless, among other things I don't care to name.

I'm one of those freaks that 100% completed Mario Party 4 because the different birthday presents were super fun to collect and I really liked that. This has nothing to do with anything, just thought I'd point it out.
