Both those games are post metal gear. The only Kojima game that actually was released prior to the first Metal Gear was Penguin Adventure.

Policenauts is best on PC-98.

And neither has an English version, and most people can't into moonrunes, so that's kind of a moot advice. The only choice for English readers is SEGA CD and PS1 versions.

Also what does the PC-Engine version has that the SEGA CD version doesn't?
