Are there any good retro dragon ball games?

Hyper Dimension is the only good retro Dragon Ball game, but the air battles suck.

>> No.5689745

No. I love Dragon Ball, but all the retro games are shit

The GBC pseudo-RPG/card game was pretty good.

>> No.5689757

I take it back, the GBA RPG "Attack of the Saiyans" was fucking awesome

>Are there any good retro dragon ball games?
No, but Shin Butouden is probably the most passable.

>> No.5689780

Dragon Ball Adventure, for Game Boy Advance. Gameplay, plot, graphics, animations, everthing is great. It is a pity that GBA isn't /vr/.

>> No.5689854

Hyper Dimension. And that's it.

And never will be, for good reason. If we allow GBA, we'll have no reason not to allow PS2, Xbox and Gamecube as well which would completely destroy /vr/.

Dragon Ball Z: Legends, for playstation

kinda clunky and destroys controllers, but group battles are awesome and after unlocking all the characters you have a blast setting up different fights.

90% of the threads currently are meme/bait. Including the rest of sixth gen wouldn't change much.

Hyper Dimension is one of the best, but Super Butoden 2 and 3 have more of a following fanbase that still play them to this day, at least in Japan and some latin american countries.
>>5689772
Shin Butoden was such a missed opportunity. It's not really the "most passable", it's actually the worst of the Butoden games gameplay-wise. Completely broken and unbalanced (special attacks can take up to 1 and a half life bar), and the worst aspect is the super tiny, claustro stages that simply ruin the whole fun of Butoden games (having big stages so you can dash around, making use of the split screen). They added a 2nd mini-stage you can knock your opponent into, but that just makes the stage even more closed. I don't know what was going on in Shin Butoden's development, but they fucked up big time. A shame because the roster is pretty good. Not a big fan of the digitalized character sprites though, they look washed out and like cut-outs.
The best DBZ fighting games are Butoden 2, 3, Buuyuu Retsuden and Hyper Dimension.
DBZ Legends is interesting from a presentation stand-point, gameplay is a bit dull and repetitive but also original and kind of mimmicks the air battles in DBZ.
PC Engine's game is also interesting and pulls a similar gimmick as Shin Butoden with being able to knock your opponent to another layer of the arena, but does it better.
For RPGs, the Famicom RPGs and Super Saiya densetsu on SFC are all worth playing for all the different scenarios you can trigger depending on how you decide to play the game.
Similarly, there's the cult games Super Gokuuden 1 and 2 which cover the whole Goku story from the beginning of DB up until becoming a Super Saiyan and defeating Freeza, these are a weird mix of quiz games/visual novel and odd RPG-ish battles, also have a lot of alternate "what if" scenarios.

Most people already treat anything pre-7th gen as retro anyway.

>> No.5690109

Hyper Dimension faggots are the worst you just know the only fighting games they like are Street Fighter 2

It sucks. This is the coolest fucking move in the entire series.

Maybe in the Famicom RPG that covers the Piccolo Daimaou saga?

Maybe it's because it's a kamikaze move that also kills the guy who uses it?

I think I played this one and enjoyed it. It's a JRPG that follow the story of Dragon Ball Z quite accurately.

This was one of the first games to get fantranslations that I remember. This and Sailor Moon Another Story, played them in the year 2000.
