What Ys games do you recommend? The first two seem to have like a million versions. Which are worth playing?

>> No.5692215

If you want to play the original two Ys games, the best overall way is to play the PC collection called Ys Eternal, or the official English release of it called Ys Chronicles. I personally prefer the fan translation of Eternal over the official Chronicles.

Could you put it up on Mega?

Ys Origin and Ys Felghana, those are the only two must play games. If you like the straightforward no bullshit approach to the pacing, music and like old school arpgs then Ys 1 and 2 are very much worth it. If you want to play the original version of 3 (Felghana is a remake) you better hope that the ps2 remake got a fan translation because the original versions are dogshit. Dawn of Ys is a continuation of the first 2 games and if you like those youll like it. 5/Ark of Napishtim is like a mix of the exploration of early Ys games and the combat of Origin and Felghana but is very unrefined. Can stop playing after that.

Nah that's the thing, the hard drive I had it on burnt out years ago and I don't have it anymore. Honestly Chronicles isn't THAT bad of an official English release and it's fine to play through.

basically the non-retro ones on Steam.
Ys lives from fast-paced action and RPG elements. the better the engine and the graphics, the better it is. however, newest Ys games look fucking awful. Sprite-based Adol is still best. 3D Adol a shit.
