>already ran out of good retrogames to play
this really sucks. There's only a limited amount of good games made before 1999. I envy people who can enjoy modern games.
>inb4 indies

>> No.6015301

I envy people who can spend their whole life to just playing video games. But even then, I don't believe you played all the good retro games there is.

>> No.6015307

what do you mean when you say you "can't" play games made after 1999?

Go clear some arcade shmups and beat em ups. Should shut you up for a few decades.

>modern games
Nothing to envy there. Literally all trash.

What, you don't like Annual Sports Franchise 58793 or Syndicated Adventure Game 7?

If you've already run out of old games you like and you literally can't stand anything that's come out since then you don't really like video games. Find a hobby you do enjoy!

>> No.6015357

>>6015334
That's what I'm doing right now. Can't wait to play Boku no Natsuyasumi and Sakura Taisen.

Sounds like you don't actually enjoy videogames and just wanted to wallow in some nostalgia with a couple of old games you remembered.
Go fucking explore the genres you liked, you stupid asshole.

highly doubt that, unless you're idea of "good games" is looking at a top 10 list and calling it a day.

This really. I've touched nearly every arcade game that works under MAME, briefly glanced at every console game from both 3rd and 4th gen, and all I've managed to do is add a bunch of games to try out to my backlog. This doesn't cover the other generations, or any PC gaming. I'm currently working my way through the Win3.1 library, and I'm barely 1/3rd of the way through.

OP is probably trying to argue that /vr/ "needs" 6th gen to talk about. /v/irgin needs to go back.

This. If you've run out of games to play, you're doing something wrong.

>> No.6015534

>>6015461
/v/ sucks cock though.
The solution however isn't to add next gen to /vr/, we just need a /vr2k/ board.

>> No.6015541

read some books, watch some movies, talk to friends, take a walk

>> No.6015542

>>6015534
That'll just bring about the same problem /vr/ is having right now, people will get bored of discussing a specific era of vidya and then start shitposting rather than just lurking or leaving.

>> No.6015547

>>6015542
Nah, see, on /vr2k/, we make it a rolling cutoff of like, 15 years or so, so gradually more games are made relevant over time.

To get tired of playing Time Pilot, you had to have played it 30 million times at least.

Dreamcast goes on /v2k/

>> No.6015598

Dreamcast was released in 1998. /vr/ is any system (including OS or arcade board) from before Jan. 1, 2000, which also includes ports and remakes of games (not serieses) originally released before that date.

>> No.6015604

>>6015590
As the name /v2k/ implies, it'd be the 2000s board.
DC is just the lucky 6th gen console that was premature enough to come out during /vr/ times. Based little loud white thing.

>> No.6015617

>>6015604
DC should go back to being banned to shut whiny sixth gen shitposters up, change my mind.

I think it would be better to just go by release dates of individual games.

>> No.6015634

go back to /v/eddit

>> No.6015637

>>6015617
If you ask ME, /vr/ should be up to 4th gen only, as it was in the very beginning of the board.
But ultimately, the board has survived many years with the same rules, at this point we don't need to change them, just we need /v2k/ in order to get rid of the 6th gen beggars.

If you honestly believe you have played all good pre-1999 games, you either have incredibly narrow taste or have only a very surface-level knowledge of games from that time period.

This. There are plenty of games coming out that remind me of retro games.

>> No.6016919

How could you play every decent retrogame? You've got to remember that by modern standards, games that got 5/10s 20-30 years ago are 10/10 masterpieces today. It's funny that even the janky dogshit I ignored back then is miles better than almost everything released today.
