Stadium is still great if you want to replay Gen 1 and 2 though.
Extremely convenient item/pokemon management, and good post-game content in the forms of cups.
Also, mini games for 4P multiplayer.
Not to mention the 3D models and animations still hold up pretty well.

not to make this a pokemon thread but pic related.

kinda blows my mind that they recently revealed a sequel to this game. what could be cool about 3D pokemon on your TV in 2020 on an underpowered tablet.

That's the thing though, it's ONLY great if you want to replay gen 1, and most people who didn't grow up with gen 1 don't want to play gen 1, thereby making it a "You had to be there" game.

>>6694731
Also this. It's pretty lame without the context of the poke-boom and the blockbuster kiosks. Surely the new game will succeed because dispite how far it's fallen, Pokemon is still pulling in star wars numbers and the Switch has a built in "share to social media" feature... though it wouldn't surprise me to learn that this was a feature you had to pay for with Pokemon snap 2.

It's really short and it could have had all 151 monsters instead of just 63 or so... and more courses. But all in all, it's enjoyable and each course is very unique and well made. Once you bear the game (get a photo of Mew), the game gives you a hi-score you can beat for each course. Beating these scores will make you actually get the most out of the game since you will need to make sure to get the best possible photos of every single monster in the course, and trying to use all 60 photos you can take per course. Definitely give it a try again some time.

Sure, but two of the most appealing things about Stadium were the 3D models and being able to transfer your GB mons to fight your friends.

3D isn't impressive by itself anymore, and the Pokemon Fever is now a thing of the past.

Yes, you're right. The Stadium games are still pretty cool as a companion piece to Gen 1 and 2. I'd even call them the best way to play the games.
>, and good post-game content in the forms of cups.
Oh no, nigga, fuck that. The actual Stadium part of Pokemon Stadium is retarded bullshit. Don't bother. The RNG is literally, provably stacked against you. Just use a GameShark or some shit. It isn't worth your time. Take it from me, I beat Stadium 1 entirely and 85% of Stadium 2 (including R2) and it's not worth your time. Do the right thing. Just cheat. Hey, the game's doing it already.

I can agree on that, though I find it hard to imagine anyone wanting these games just for the handful of minigames...
It's strange that The Pokemon Company never just made their own Mario Party clone with Stadium tier minigames. I'm sure it has everything to do with Mario Party already existing but I have no doubt a Pokemon party game would do much better in sales than Mario Party.

It's true. People who played later Gens first will never truly understand why we loved it so much. They just see it as "le glitchy one lolololol Game Freak were horrible programmers!" and ignore everything that made it a special game in its time. Yes, in terms of pure gameplay, every Gen afterwards is better. But I know I'd happily run through Gen 1 again than play any Gen after 5.

About the glitches, Stadium fixes many of the glitches in gen 1, such as focus energy, etc.
Anyway, these "wengun glitches" infographic memes are kind of shitty, most of these zoomers wouldn't even notice these glitches if nobody told them about them.... just as how we didn't back in the day.

It's really not that bad. You can earn continues, you can boost your mons with permanent stat raising items so the cpu is always weaker. Speedrunners can even do it on demand with rental mons.

>> No.6694829

>>6694806
I've already said I've beaten almost the entire thing so I'm not sure why you're talking as if I don't know all of this.
It's still not worth it to waste your time on the game. The opponents are specifically designed to fuck you over. It's one of the cruellest games aimed at children I've ever seen. It isn't fair challenge, it's bullshit artificial challenge, and that kind of dickheaded design isn't worth bothering with. And I probably would have said it wasn't worth it anyway because of how goddamn slow it is. The animations are nice and all but literally a solid 75% of your total playtime will be just watching them alone. The option to turn them off would have been really nice.
Don't waste 40 hours of your life beating the Stadium games. It isn't worth it. Just cheat and get those speedup functions in a minute. Your life is precious. Don't waste it away on games that have no respect for your time.
