I'm a lifelong gamer who grew up with NES and SNES but sure as shit got PS2, Gamecube, and eventually XBOX. Hell, I have a JP PS2, US PS2 Slim, a PS2 TEST, JP Gamecube, US Gamecube, a fucking Gamecube NR Reader, and XBOX, and an XBOX Debug all in my main gaming setup, so I'm far from a 6th gen hater... I've been saying 6th gen should be allowed for years and I'm okay wit the change and I'm laughing at the mentally ill autists too, however I do understand what the actual somewhat well adjusted people are saying, /vr/ did have a nice feel and though I left shortly after the board was created due to it degenerating quickly, I had started to visit again lately and started to get used to it. It is nice that obscure game threads could survive and I like that the userbase was mostly older. There also seem to be a lot of Nip speakers on /vr/, which is nice. So yeah, I understand the inclusion of 6th gen and won't ever care enough to argue about it, but since the mods are making a bunch of boards no one asked for, I don't see a reason against making /v2k/ since they clearly want to gut /v/ and make it a containment board anyway.

What audience was /vr/ going for? It seemed to be going for people who liked playing and talking about old video games, and that hasn't changed. A lot of people who like 5th gen and below also like 6th gen. I grew up with 5th and 6th gen, have played my share of 4th gen, so I like talking about them too. it reduces the generals cancer, which is anti-4chan, while allowing less popular threads to have their own league to stay in
you don't need generals for every fucking topic that people want to be autistic about for longer than one thread lifespan

/vg/ was the real mistake and hopefully the end move will be to remove it completely and return to free-floating threads whenever there is interest, rather than keeping alive eternal circlejerks
