The Amber trilogy is fantastic.
Top-down 2D world exploration and 3D dungeon crawling with beautiful graphics, especially Albion.
Amberstar and Ambermoon are more open "adventure" type RPGs while Albion is more linear and story driven (but the story is really good).

It's the most underrated crpg series in my opinion.

well, there's a lot to play anon. I guess the Krondon series is a good place to start.
I enjoy action RPG so i can recommend Darkstone, there's a gog version on tpb. Magic and mayhem was another old game i enjoyed and still have it installed.
Then you have the classics from the late 90's, FO, PS, Archanum, Icewindale, etc

Do you perhaps mean Betrayal at Krondor? If so, I've played that.

I'll look up Darkstone, M&M too. As for Arcanum, Icewind Dale and all the other isometric RPGs from that era, played those too. But thank you.

Not strictly /vr/ but Quest for Infamy and Mage's Initiation are being developed in that spirit.
A tale of two kingdoms is reminiscent of it, even if it's more adventure and less rpg.
