I really love how Nintendo absolutely hates the smash community, and the entire concept of smash as anything more than a casual party game.

Looking at the website, I'm surprised people launch efforts like this one in a way that's fancy or friendly. You've got at least 4 people seemingly making a competent service, but at the end of the day they decided to do something fun and free with Nintendo's intellectual property. It's no secret Nintendo tries to shut these things down so it begs the question what did they think was going to happen if they did a good enough job? Kind of unfortunate.
With everything appearing to be open source though, it should make it difficult to stop development even if they shut down a few centralized things from the project owners.
Seems like worst case scenario people have to do some p2p reworking and provide a setup guide if the main servers/repo goes down.

I've been playing melee competitively since 2016 and honestly I'd wish melee was made by a company other than Nintendo. Better yet, if there was a similar alternative that was open source so that the players could own it and the community could make the decisions. Then again, no one would play it because it won't have Nintendo characters.

I wish the doc wasn't so damn good that it got me into the scene. Probably would have had a better time playing aoe2 competitively.
