The Dreamcast game is worth playing for the ending if you're a fan of the series. If you aren't already a fan then I would say don't bother. If you're getting into the series for the first time I would recommend playing the DC game after reading up to volume 23. I remember doing that and enjoying the game more as a result.

Here's the deal though, actual spoilers: Caska finally got her memory & sanity back, but the worst parts of the memory are missing and she gets horrible flashbacks when she looks at Guts and therefore can't look at him. Not really, only Bitterblack Isle which was obviously inspired by Dark Souls as well. Berserk cross promotion was in a whole bunch of crap. Arngrim in Valkyrie Profile was obviously a Guts clone, and they ended up added several Berserk characters for that mobile game.

I started sword of the berserk like a month ago, mostly to see if my burned copy would work. The combat seemed clunky, but I'm sure it was my fault. I'm going to research the controls better and try again

I had this for DC back in the day. It was good. At least to 18yr old me. Killing with a giant sword, some blood, and a cool story.I was unfamiliar with the series.however. I stumbled across a DVD at EB soon after that. I didn't even know there were Berserk games. I always meant to finish the manga as I'd only read the first four volumes. I'll be sure to check out some of the games recommended in this thread once I'm through this series. I'm sad it will never end.
