Really, Konami? You cheap bastards, you.

did it affect the gameplay that much?

At least MD Riders has new level designs, gameplay improvements, and is the hardest version of the game, giving you a reason to play it in current year, unlike SNES which is just the arcade version but worse (and censored).

The colours however are really washed out, but luckily you can fix that with a romhack:

Stop pretending to care about the Mega Drive, auster, and go back to Spectrum.

>> No.8067928

Konami were cheap and generally not super-committed to the Mega Drive, they were still loyal Nintendo servants at that time.

Sure, Australia-kun, Konami were cheap and they bad because nintendo.
Now, Speccy? that's where non-cheap quality games are...

What made them change their mind? Did the Tiny Toons scotformer sell a lot or something?

Doesnt matter. Japanese arcade version is the best Sunset Riders.

the Mega Drive TT feels a bit perfunctory compared to the SNES one, not as polished at all

>> No.8068042

They had had 8 mbit games since Strider came out in 91. Still making a 4 megabit game in 93 was bullshit.

I prefer the level designs and gameplay in the Sega one. SNES just gets way too gimmicky, almost feels like Trashure developed it.

>>8068068
It was actually made by people who worked on the Goemon games, iirc
>Trashure
Take your meds.

ROM size was tied closely to price but especially in Japan. the Mega Drive market was small there so games got less money put into them than SNES ones.

Core gameplay, not that much was different. However, the stages were completely changed. The SNES version was closely identical to the Arcade version. The Genesis version had much shorter levels, half as many bosses, and no voice lines.

I think they were trying to keep costs down because of the small Japanese Mega Drive market.

You're going to call that abomination of a console port Sunset Riders? Don't be a moron, you knew exactly what was meant there.

>> No.8068945

>>8067848
Very cheap, I feel like Konami thought the genesis was just some unknown weird console like the casio loopy. In comparison Acclaim felt that the master system was a healthy enough market that they used a 512k rom for Morkal Kombat 2 in 1994. I like ss on genesis and the graphics are good but it could have used more variety in the graphics tiles used. The saturn got pretty good support early on with ps1 ports that were good unlike especially western companies that often unoptimized and had bad mesh transparencies. Vandal hearts from what I can see doesn't look any worse than the ps1 version.

>>8067853
Its one of the best shooters on the system after contra and gunstar heroes. Konami made some of the best games on the genesis. Konami even released games on amiga such as elite 2.

>>8068042
Then Konami put out hyperdunk with 16mbit. You American like basketball, you buy now ok.

>> No.8069012

>>8068945
In 1989 they'd be forgiven for thinking that. By the time this game came out, come the fuck on.

>> No.8069092

>>8068603
Better music, though, imo. Wasn't the Genesis version developed first, by the way? That might explain why it's more limited, ie, before they figured out how to make fuller use of the hardware.

>> No.8069112

>>8068603
SNES: censored the hooker clothes because babytendo is for kids
Genesis: all those cuts plus they removed 2 cowboy clones. I always considered those guys "3 Steves" but I guess Billy was the original and Steve and Bob were clones of him.

In summary,: doesn't matter since they didn't change the game up very much like the Turtles ports so there's no reason you should be playing them today instead of the arcade version.
