Why do people download emulators and have to worry about keeping them up to date when you can just use RetroArch in your browser? Even N64/PS1 games work fine and on mobile too. https://web.libretro.com/

Plenty of emulators have their own automatic updating features.

I have retroarch and my ps1 saves don't save. Gives me an error.

Never had a problem with epsxe. Don't care about updating it. works fine. worked fine 10 years ago. still works fine.

What emulator before 6th gen makes meaningful updates more than a few times a year?

based, you know what i like about ePSXe over other emulators and i've never seen it any other one.
is pressing select to use the joysticks during a game. as it starts up. it was like that on the original ps1.

I don't remember using select to turn on the joysticks, there was a dedicated "Analog" button.

well yeah, but i don't know how to fix it, and epsxe works fine. so i don't have incentive to fix it. the whole premise is "why" and that's why.

>keeping them up to date
No point for most of the stuff I play. Mesen(dead) is still the best NES emu, BSNES(dead) is still the best SNES emu, PCem is dead and 86box hasn't had any real update in over a year. No decent Genesis emu has been updated in 2 or more years, and Kega Fusion still does 32x and Sega CD better than them. PCSX-R-PGXP still works plenty fine for all the games I play, but I'll upgrade to duckstation once it's 100%.

MAME is the only one I update, and the MAME "cores" on RA can't run any of the new stuff.

You have the memory of a retarded nigger goldfish. There was a third dedicated analog button in the center near start & select.

Retroarch is bloated flashy shit. I just want to load a ROM and play it, not navigate five menus deep just to start the game.

only stupid idiots update emulators that don't fix anything, users of retroarch are on the same level.
(emulator i'm using was updated over 10 years ago,snes9x well was updated 2 years ago and the only reason i updated was the CG shaders and nothing else)

Accuracy is improving all the time. Using old ass emulators is only worth it if you're stuck with underpowered hardware. Sometimes RetroArch is the best option for using old emulators, such as the snes9x 2002 core which is heavily optimized for weak ARM devices. Works great on my PS Vita. I don't like RetroArch that much but I use it when it's the best tool for the job.

i use the same emus with the exception being i use pcsx-r and nestopia as well,to get them working as they should i use wined3d windows since windows don't use the proper colors of the emus like gens, zsnes, kega fusion and some other more.

>> No.8182671

>>8182662
accuracy reached the limit on most emulators years ago this is why is said.
>trying to improve accuracy just break the performance, not only that you break compatibility and end up doing the same thing the guys at zsnes did you fix one game only to break 10.

higam reached the limit 10 years ago and isn't friendly or has good performance so your ppint is mutt games that worked 10 years ago now barelly work (bsnes 0.72 is the best the others are just bloatware).
no$snes has better performance and acvuracy then last higan version (like most multiemulators they can run everything but aren't masters so will be surpassed by emulator that are for one console only which happened comparing snes9x against higan)

whatever i forgot about the 3rd button but i still stand by my point of pressing a button at start up. its been a while since i played a actual ps1 with a analog control ngl.

>> No.8183378

pcsx2 has never failed for me... finished R&C 1,3 and gladiator. and all sly cooper games with no problems (slight 5fps drop when full on action scenes on sly 3 and Ratchet gladiator)... these games made the EE and GS hurt on the actual ps2 and the emulator stays staunch... so that's my 2 cents for emulation that no one asked for.

It's not "flashy" it's customizable. Once you've got it set up well, it makes everything so much smoother. For instance, I wanted to try neo geo today. Rather than having to find a specific emulator and configuring it, I just scrolled through the core downloader, found the neo geo one, and used it. Controller was pre-configured, shaders carried over, save states, fast forward etc all worked out of the box.
There are some really shitty parts to the program- playlist creation should really be much, much easier and the thumbnail downloader should be smarter or at least allow you to insert your own thumbnails with a drag and drop- but on the whole it makes everything about the process of emulating way smoother and more robust.

>> No.8183434

>>8182368
I do not need to keep them up to date. Also RetroArch sucks on Browsers for certain games and the sound is broken on certain games. Overall I play on an emulator because that's my choice just as it is yours to shill RetroArch 24/7.

For /vr/ related systems, how often do you even have to update? Most of this shit runs fine, with some of 6th gen maybe cause some problems, and those are edge cases at best.
