Play the stages until you learn them. Use the password system to pick up where you left off (or save state the password screen, idgaf)

I get my ass beaten with Syfa, how does it happen? Or maybe its just because Block 5 is ball busting filter for noobs. But I already finished it with Grant :/.

The biggest thing you need to learn is patience with any classicvania game, and knowing when to whip. All of these games are like spinning plate acts and the moment you lose track of one thing it usually all goes to shit.
Grant helps a lot too, he doesn't give a fuck about level design and goes where pleases. I wouldn't know about strats with the other two partners as I always pick Grant because he's fun.

Short answer:
-Syfa is good for bosses,
-Grant is good for movement,
Alucard can fly and use the clock for free(docent lose a weapon for it)
Long Answer: Play the game learn the enemies moves, you have infinite continues and the HELP ME code, this game is cake wall if you use your weapons

In the JP version because he has a free projectile dagger plus the axe, in the american version Holy water and Syfa Electric spell does more damage to bosses.

>like Castlevania 1 a lot but can not for the life of me beat Death
>play the game, get to Death, try as much as I can, drop the game for months
>try Castlevania 2, hate it, scared to try 3 due to hearing how difficult it is
>one day see castlevania thread here
>say that Death is impossible to beat, can't be done
>people encourage me to keep trying
>finally beat the fucker, finish the game, never realized I was so close to the ending
>play the game again, use the save state to save at the beginning of the stage with Death
>spend whole day donking on him in any way I can
>get that juicy feeling of the game being piss easy with all the practice
>ready to tackle 3, pump myself up
>beat it in a few days, never found Alucard tho, never used the second character
>there was nothing that I thought was as hard as Death in 1
>boss fights in particular seemed way easier
>decide to try japanese version
>it's practically a breeze compared
I would love to wave around my big dick and gloat about how much of a cool guy I am, but in reality I don't think Castlevania 3 US is THAT hard, I think it's the same as people thinking that GnG is extremely and unfairly hard, when it reality it's not that bad. For the record, I can't even finish Megaman 1-2. I didn't use any save states and only really had troubles with jellyfish stage, that took me a whole day to get through for some reason.
All I can say keep on trying I guess.

Practice. Pay very close attention to enemy spawn points and patterns. Sypha is really good at close quarter combat due to her speed and ice and lightning are supremely powerful.

Without using straight shota? I'd think it would if anything be easier that way. Anyhow what you need to be doing is going for the 1CC. Here's how to do it: Play repeatedly until you succeed. Also, never use the Japanese version, because it has buzzy music and is too easy.

If you never found Alucard, then you only played one of the three routes. It also sounds like you didn't play the harder second loop.

That is torture, specially because of the skulls that replace the medusa heads and move in a erratic pattern.
