I was thinking of getting that Sega Ages version on the Switch, since it has an automap. I don't have the time to be making my own maps.
Speaking of Sega i've been playing Space Harrier trying to 1cc it off and on. I seem to get my deaths back-to-back after I fuck up just once.

>bullshit
>Jet's,
well youre in luck
imo blaze is the absolute easiest to counter jets with
her jump kick hbox is YUGE, and her neutral A that backflip thang has shittons of i-frames so you can usually chip him when goes for that swoop, which can then be easily combod into
he still has that absolute bullshit priority grab tho, but even then that neutral A can stop him if youre quick

>3
theres a lot wrong with 3
but i fucking love it.
basically "SoA fears the rental market", which in this case results in absolutely everything having too many health bars.
but if youve played 2 A LOT, and got gud at it, its probably the most difficult beat em up ever, so that might even be a plus

the things they did right, imo, drown that all out. or at least make it playable
>the extra command input moves for each character
>the hidden characters
>the vastly sped up gameplay
>running
>branching paths/multiple ends
>air control/steering
>special moves for weapons depending on character blaze with sword and dash attack is OP. you can combo it into grabs and it wont even lower weapon durability
and lastly, possibly the most contentious aspect of all
>the OST
most humans HATE it
but if youre into weirdo music, its possibly the most ambitious, and definitely the most contemporaneous of any vidya OST. most OSTs in vidya were at best 5+yrs behind. SoR3 came out while that scene was still strong.
idk how motohiro bein a jap even knew of that whole detroit scene, but he seriously fucking NAILED it
all of it just combines into the most frantic beat em up, possibly the most frantic game period, ive ever played

if the hyper difficulty is too thick for your blood, theres no shame in just playing BK3 JP ver. its the same game, but with the homo leather daddy miniboss, and less healthbars

Just finished up Crusader No Remorse today on No Remorse difficulty. While in the end I didn't fully adapt to the controls, I still wrecked havoc on standard human enemies. The bipedal robots with rockets on the other hand were insane. Sometimes you'd walk into some nasty ambushes as well. Glad I paid attention to the credits because it gave a code to the developers room.

Which version did you play? I had that game for the Sega Saturn and it was great, there were no problems with the controls. Years later I downloaded the DOS version and the controls were a nightmare, I had to turn it off. It's just about the only isometric game that I would recommend the console version over the PC version.

>> No.8748002

I played it on the PS1, but it offered both absolute and relative control schemes. I stuck with relative which was tank controls because in a lot of situations it worked well for precise dodging behind cover and evading some attacks. On the other hand trying to quickly panic roll out of a trap and suddenly I found myself fumbling with the controls. I'm unsure if it was my pad or if it common for PS1 pads, but sometimes it would read my input twice so when I'm trying to select an item in a hurry (like trying to switch to a grenade launcher or an energy cell pack) it would just skip straight over it when I pressed the button once. Maybe I should have tried absolute and see how well it went with the side step and roll buttons.

Doing a perfect stats run, all rages. Way more entertaining than I thought it would be, keeping your characters at the minimum level is no joke. I’ll have to do a true llg at some point after this. Hardest parts so far:
>first ultros fight without leveling banon
>getting the rages in the narshe battle with minimum xp gains
>dodging the rats in the opera house
>number 128
Number 128 was by far the hardest part of this run so far and I’m assuming the game will only get easier from here. I think on later versions you have enough mp to summon phantom in that fight, but on the snes version it’s a crapshoot, especially if you want to steal tempest. Had to do a ton of savescumming here. Now it’s back to the veldt for more grinding

>her jump kick hbox is YUGE, and her neutral A that backflip thang has shittons of i-frames
I actually have an even easier time with Max's Neutral A, his hammer punch thing, it fucking wrecks Jet's Superman dive so bad it's not even funny. Since this post I managed to beat it with Blaze, not difficult at all, her grabs are very good. Yesterday I did it again with Max for shits and giggles and made it to Mr X on a single continue, was a lot of fun, he is definitely my favorite.

The problem I'm having right now is Skate. Holy shit, I'm having such a hard time adjusting to this little cunt's pitiful range. Even with speed to compensate, I find myself misjudging, and when trying to punish enemy whiffs, getting punished myself. Regular enemies are mostly okay because his grabs are great, but every boss starting with that cunt Zanza, and their recolors, stomps me. Other stuff like the palm strike of those chinese fucks and using the pipes is also proving hard, I can't even cheese Rocky Bear out of half a bar with the sword, I can't get a hit in, Skate just sucks with weapons. This morning I made it to Shiva and ran out of continues. I just tried again, lost three lives to Abadede and gave up.

Any pointers on dealing with bosses using the little shit?
