How the fuck am I supposed to fly in this game? I've been playing it for 20 years and I still can't figure out this stupidly implemented game mechanic.

Some guides that I have looked up have told me to press the d-pad in the reverse direction or tap it that way, or press up and down in succession. Some guides have told me to press backwards and up in succession. Each guide tells me a different button combo to activate the flying mode but none of them work.

This is a fucking Mario game, so it can't be that complex. How can I control Mario's flying?

This shit is so cryptic, It's no wonder current devs spoon feed gamers these days.

No. I grew up in a orphanage that taught jack shit and entered school in what Americans would probably call "3rd grade." I generally had no idea what I was supposed to be doing at any given time until puberty when the world started making sense.

The bipolar idiot orphan persona the OP uses in the thread would make for a great party member in an RPG. He'd be this brutish warrior nignog who grows to become the main character's best pal by the time the second half of the game passes.

I always thought it just made him glide until recently.

You don't need to fly to beat the game, so just enjoy the game without flying if you can't figure it out.

>> No.893585

I never really understood smw flying that well when I was a kid because I thought it worked exactly the same as the racoon-tail thing from Smb 3 (you only got a pre-determined amount of flying time until you automatically began to just fall down) and I thought the cape holding cannon ball effect was just so that Mario would have a unique "falling" sprite to show his velocity was increasing

You're not making yourself out any better with that post.

Every time someone says something stupid here, you people start with your doomsaying, as if 4chan is literally the only board on the internet with trolls and stupid people.

You've been on /v/ so long, that you think that any sort of disagreement/troll/stupid person signifies the death of a board, not realizing that this is how communication goes on all forums of discussion, be it on the internet or real life. But instead of reacting like a mature person, you start doomsaying. OH GOD A STUPID PERSON, /vr/ IS DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAD.

Stop it. It's annoying, it's stupid, and it isn't helping anymore than troll posts do.

How about he streams himself playing the game? Then we'll know what he's doing wrong, like if he jumps before the meter's filled up or doesn't keep the button pushed in or whatever. And if nothing else, it'd be hilarious to watch.
