kinda lacks texture, and it isn't centered.

honestly it looks like something a high school freshman paints because he had to.

White mage was depicted as a man in the guide that came with FF1, particularly the White Wizard class.

I mean, look at him, he looks like some Viking Priest of Thor who cares the hammer of his patron deity, smiting the shit out of evil and stuff he doesn't like.

I kind of wish there was a demand for traditional artwork, it'd be fun to do some commissions that way. Price-wise I just can't find any way to make it competitive with digital artwork.

Proper oil paintings still sell for a lot.
I remember some drawfag from /tg/ who sold a pretty mediocre warhammer painting to some anon for more than 500$.

It's just that it's a very unsafe market so you have to be really good and have some regular customers in order to make a living from it.

Digital art isn't that much safer though.
There's so many artists out there that you're pretty much stuck with freelance work.
Next to no one hires permanent artists anymore.

I'm not sure personally.

It might very well be that they simply train the elephants to repeat motions in order to get peanuts or something.

I was pretty stumped when the elephant re-inforced a thin line,
but the flower leaves me very sceptical.

Of course one might argument that you have to teach them how to paint to a certain degree,
because how would they figure out how to do it otherwise?
A young human child wouldn't be able to figure out how to paint figuratively on it's own as well.

But did the elephant consciously paint an elephant?
It's certainly not an easy question.

You'd be surprised. Artists who cater to autists make boatloads of money. That's why so many artists got sucked in to doing purely MLP commissions for all the horsefuckers' original characters: each character follows a very basic, easy to draw Flash Animation template with only two or three special things (usually hair, an accessory, and that flank mark), and people get mad if you deviant from that cheap-looking style. Anybody can do it, and lots of really good artists get lost to it.

Before that, Sonic commissions where the go-to for getting money form autists, and before THAT (Sonic autism hit a fever pitch with Sonic Adventure), it was Yoshis

Watching other videos it's clear that the elephant learned how to paint an elephant holding a flower. On the other hand, even learning how to do that needs a higher form of intelect because not even some humans can draw that well. Not to mention the motor skills to do so.

Well, sure. You could make money off of kids and retards.
OR you have integrity and/or want to do real art.

My commission policy is that you order MY art.
Not someone else's. I don't copy styles.
Also ponies and furries are right out.

That black mage is a lot sloppier than the white one but it looks better. Even though the dithering on that cloak was probably just the result of you not knowing how to colour consistently, it makes it look a lot better.

What you need to work on before you start painting is shapes. One look at those hands and I can tell you either don't draw or haven't drawn for long. Pick up a pencil and start with minimalist cartooning. It will give you the opportunity to work on your basic shapes and line work.
