1207813 No.1207813[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

Did anyone have their own names for things in games that they didn't know the real name of, or didn't have one?

To my sister and me, these guys were Gimme-Somes. They lunged toward Mario because they wanted some of his food or candy or something dumb like that, and whenever they did we'd say "Gimme some!"

Not a character but I (and my whole family) used to call Adventure Island/Wonder boy "Islander"

I have no idea what the fuck that was about. A few weeks ago I was on Mercado Libre (kinda like eBay) and I discovered a bunch of "islander" famicom games.

was it called Islander somewhere else and some people just magically picked the name up?. I can't solve this mystery

Enemies were the bad guys.
Bottomless pit (like on Sonic and such) were called "falldowns" as it seem odd to us that there is a point where you just die in midair. We just assume that was the point of no return.
Spikes (once again Sonic) we called nails. They look like three white nails and not so much like spikes to us.

I think we call the special zone on S3&K "ball zones" or something like that. We were very stupid but at least we understood what the other meant.

At some point my little cousin called goombas "chicken nuggets".

Bullet Bills were just "Bullets".

Lakitu was "That Cloud Guy".

Bloopers were "Squids".

I think really the only enemies i knew in Super Mario Bros. were koopas, piranha plants, hammer bros., and bowser. Everything else was "fish" or "helmet" or "spike guys" (spinies) or whatever.
