That game was the epitome of weeaboo bullshit, but I loved the fluid controls and fighting system (on the PC anyway), and the level design was clever - if monotonous due to being realistic. It was one of the most fun beat'em ups from the 00s, but the level design tended to be too nonlinear sometimes, which could be just plain bullshit. Had a nice variety of fighting and stealth too - sneaking up from behind and breaking peoples back was so satisfying.

It also had one of the weirdest fucked up dream sequence levels, it was great.

The best part I liked was that you could freely attack in any direction.

At one point, in the first warehouse mission, I was running out of time to access the last terminal... so I skipped one of the mooks and just went for it. Konoko started typing on the thing, then the mook punched her from the right, interrupting the motion. Then I did a right kick which caused the dude to fall out over the ledge into his death. Then went back to typing on the terminal.
The entire time, she didn't even turn around, the whole motion was entirely smooth, her left leg probably didn't even move from the spot it was standing on.

The one big bullshit problem I had with the game though, was that you could only break glass with weapons. You are this mutant who can swim in acid and survive 50 foot falls and shit, and effortlessly throw around dudes in battle armour weighing 300 pounds, but you cannot kick any piece of glass hard enough to even crack it? Even if not by punching, they should've gotten damaged at least by getting armoured people thrown at them.

Oh and there was that chick in Blades of Vengeance for Sega Genesis. I *always* picked her, because she was more agile than the warrior dude, but had a cool sword and wasn't totally frail like the magician. Also, that crossbow was cool...

I really like Rebecca Chambers from the first Resident Evil (and Remake but that's a different matter). In the beginning of the story, you wander alone through the darkness of the mansion with hellish creatures lurking around every corner and then, quite unexpectedly, you find this little cutie hiding within. She's such a sight for sore eyes after enduring such a prolonged period of tension and I felt genuinely relieved that I was no longer alone in all this. Suddenly, her safety became important to me because she was the only friend that I had in that place and I was always worried about her when I had to leave her alone like at the piano. I like Claire from RE2 a lot too but Rebecca just seemed more vulnerable to me and therefore more memorable during gameplay.

Which means other characters already get their minimum share of protagonist. Ryu is not the whole damn game which is a fact but his share is arguable to the point where it doesn't take other character's legit amounts. This applies in case BoF2 is regarded more as a STATIC literary work than a game.
