No discussion is needed. Being born later means you can play all of the good while not having to lean on piles of shit to hold you over until the next good titles shows up.

Being born in the early 2000's might suck though. Prices of decent games are sky high and there is so much high quality content you might never make it all the way through everything worth playing.

Man, you're barely over 30. Just because this sire is full of 20 year olds doesn't make you old. Tbqh, most retro gamers seem to be 30+.

>>3592774

So you're saying we should have been born before Pong? Tbqh, it would have been fun to be a teen in the NES days and an adult in future gens. It seems more fun being an adult gamer than a kid one. The experiences are different and you have the income to buy what you want, and you can buy M games. That would mean I'd be in my 40s but that's not too old.

Exidy is a weird company that made some edgy ass games. I wish there was a documentary on them.

>> No.3593161

>There was a story on 60 Minutes looking at the dangers of the game's psychological impact. The National Safety Council said Death Race was "sick and morbid". These concerns, and the first ever protests over the content of a video game, prompted further coverage in outlets like the National Enquirer and the NBC's Weekend Show.

>A former employee of developers Exidy says "The end result was that Exidy sales doubled or quadrupled," following Death Race's controversial exposure, while former Exidy president Pete Kauffman says ""It seemed like the more controversy…the more our sales increased."

Decades before rockstar games was even founded this game had the same effect on the industry.

I owned and actually beat deadly towers back in the day and I can say with certainty that no one actually loved that game. It's existance offended us but the manual that it came with promised there was something more if you went just a little deeper.

Deadly towers is an obstacle to be overcome and nothing more. We didn't know what "masochist" meant because we were in grade 6 and household internet was a decade away, but by enduring that game it proved that we were masochists.

On the other hand, emulation is easier than ever and companies are starting to offer ways to play some older games easily and cheaply, like the PS Classics or Nintendo's Virtual Console. 18 years old here. My uncle was an avid classic game collector and I was the closest to him growing up so naturally I played a lot of games with him. I ended up inheriting all his consoles and games after he sadly passed away of a heart attack 2 Christmases ago, though I had also gotten into emulation as early as late elementary school or early middle school (can't remember)

For me classic gaming is my life hobby, I feel more at home playing retro games with colourful worlds than almost all of the shit made nowadays.
