I think swat'em ups do a great job of capturing the feeling of killing a relentless never-ending swarm of deer flies, black flies, and gnats. Yeah it takes skill and reflexes and if you practice at it you can get really good. But I'd rather be doing almost anything else.

The worst arcade genre is fighting games because it basically had Dark Souls invasions before Dark Souls was a thing except that you also lost your money on it if you lost the match. Then your choices were either wait until the machine was free again or wait in line for another shot at the victor and the chance to waste even more quarters losing.
Git gud you say? How? Arcade games don't have training mode. And there wasn't online guides for characters and match ups.

Still has that kinetic energy because of how the controller's laid out, and still has that pleasant feel of tapping to rhythm besides that there's also random modifiers for a proper top level challenge. Rhythm games are simplest thing to understand in terms of appeal, get a soul nigger
