EDF with homing missiles on snes is peak comfy shmup. It's tough but not unrealistic for beginners. I'm not saying it's the best shmup ever but with like 8 different weapon styles there's a lot of replay value. Also it costs like $10-15. Great graphics, nice sound, and if slowdown happens it feels like a game mechanic rather than an afterthought or problem. I recommend trying it.

PC version is a tad harder because it runs at a slightly higher framerate.

Ai Cho Aniki (using the invincibility move)
Battle Mania/Trouble Shooter
Battle Mania Daiginjou
Coryoon
Daioh Gale
Final Soldier
Magic Girl
Power Gate
Psychic Storm
Star Parodier
Sylphia

Here's what I've been doing for practice. Play through from the beginning and create a save state at the start of each level. Repeat each level until I can clear it without dying. Once I've played through to the end like this, I'll attempt a full run as a 1cc without savestates. If that fails I'll practice individual sections or levels and repeat the full run again until I get the 1cc.
