How did they know?

They used a lot of wacky conspiracy theorist talking points from that era that turned out to be not so wacky.

This. It's literally why QAnon has such a grip on the minds of dumb boomers everywhere.

No one has yet though. I only played for the gameplay.

Maybe not in this thread but people on this site definitely overrate the story in this game. It's interesting but it retreads old ground.

DX's brilliance comes in the level design and how it gives the player agency and freedom in accomplishing their tasks. The story, on the other hand, is just a bunch of conspiracy shit stolen from other sources, and the devs admit it.

Turns out some of the conspiracy theories weren't so conspiratorial.

I don't get it. I really dislike politics and don't follow any informations about it, but when it comes to conspiracy theories I can study them relentlessly. Deus Ex is one of my favorite games ever.

Well no, they were by definition conspiratorial, just not theoretical :)

It was all very predictable back in the day if you were objective in your thinking and paying attention (and knew history). Humanity and technology have patterns that intersect with one another leading to conflict every three or four generations. They were lucky with 911 though, they took the twin towers out to save space on the disc.

yes, they surely saved a lot of space by removing a repeated blurry texture, right... I completely believe this version, it's the (((official))) one after all.

>> No.6989009

I think the actual reason is the background is repeated and it would look weird with a bunch of twin towers repeating in the background

>> No.6990793

>>6988918
You misunderstood the explanation. UE1 is limited to 256x256 textures and because the Twin Towers were taller than the rest of the skyline, they decided it be easier and prettier to just erase the towers rather than squish down the other buildings to accommodate the towers.
