I don't remember as I had gained over time a 'list' to download and grew up without a computer and without direct access to the Internet, as school didn't count.

It may have been Chrono Trigger though on a floppy drive that I ended up never even using, with an emulator to go with it, as both might have fit. I was hoping to install it on SOME computer, but I never did get to as I was never left alone with a computer long enough until I was 18+. By then I ended up downloading like a hundred games at once as I had a lot of time to think about what I'd have wanted.

Before such 18+ years I knew people that had emulators and hacked video game consoles, such as a hacked xbox in 2005ish, it had nes games. Such experiences in foster care let me know what was there and to have good taste based on practically polls taken by me from watching people.

My first emulator was Dave Spicer's Sparcade. (https://www.myabandonware.com/game/sparcade-47o)) I very quickly acquired all the ROMs it supported, though I don't remember how. Might have downloaded them from BBS or University network. The first version supported about 25 games, I think I was most impressed with the emulation of Nemesis (AKA Gradius) and various hacks of Pac Man, such as Hangly Man. The next version of Sparcade supported Salamander and Vulcan Venture and Wardner, but you needed a Pentium for V.V. I used a Gravis Gamepad. The first version of MAME I used supported Commando. And Callus, Genecyst and Nesticle were the bomb. There were also single game emulators, of those, I played Bombjack, Black Tiger and Rygar the most. Finally, arcade perfection at home! It was great.

She had just about every big first party title, final fantasy, a few random ones like micro machines. My dad walked in when I was playing it drunk out of his tree and witnessed the pin connectors acting up, which as we all know is standard fare for using a NES. He decided it was irreparably broken and had to be thrown out along with all the games, even with me trying to explain to him how the NES is.

He also once banned me from using the computer because he somehow thought I broke the computer playing Xargon from a shareware disc that his friend had given me. Funny to think about now at least.

Then I found out about translated games like Seiken Densetsu 3 and wondered how the FUCK that game never got a real release outside of japan, it was so damn good.

there was this bully in that group who would always pick on me. he would also pick on others but sometimes it was just me and him and the rest were girls and he would pick on me. really annoying. I'm not a wimp but he was three years older.
one time he even punched him during class but i punched him back...

he would SELL ME Pokémon yellow edition (I had red for game boy, and yellow was just a terrible cash grab) and super Mario land 2 (which i actually own on cartridge since it came out) on a burned CD. It was easy money money for him and of course he was ripping me off (I didn't have internet back then) but it showed me that something like emulators exist, that I could run other systems on my pc and Pokémon yellow had just come out - it showed me that i could already play such a new game on pc. it was mind blowing. i think the success of Pokémon really made emulation explode.

Not if everyone owns a copy, of which actually going and making sure they do not is retardedly unrealistic.

Faggot. You'd have to invade every home. Your mindset calls everyone able to break the law a criminal and such lines of thinking get all guns banned. Why else would you have a gun but to shoot someone preemptively? Reaction time issues make it much more likely you are going to murder someone than defend yourself.

And there are other examples. VCR's had recording features, cameras do to this day, are you going to ban computers having cameras? Ban them having basic text editor applications? Ban file managers to stop possible law breaking next?

Not downloaded by me, but my first emulator was Genecyst on a Toshiba Satellite 420 (I think) - laptop dad got on his job and didn't want to use.

It is how I managed to play Sega games, as I only had Nintendo consoles back when. Such good memories with Tristar, Aero the Acro-bat, Sanic, and Roller Coaster Tycoon. Also, probably my first console fap with the Sailor Moon game.

As for download myself, probably zsnes, and I hate it because it made my play of Chrono Trigger sufferable - I have nostalgia for bad quality OP sound, and the fact that the Lavos Bit was still on screen once you beat it and it fades to black, making me think that it somehow survived.

Man, I remember when I discovered MAME back in 2003. I had no idea you could play arcade games on your PC. It opened a whole new world for me. Downloading ROMs of games I’ve never heard of was like the Wild West for me. From then on I graduated to NES emulation, then Genesis, then SNES, etc. But nothing could beat arcade games in terms of graphics, variety, and mystery.

Hey guys, I haven't emulated in over a decade and all my programs are outdated to the point where I still have ZSNES. SNES9x was recommended to me, but I'm wondering, is there a resource for what's considered optimal emulators to use per console for convenience (not accuracy)?
