How much will playing this game on a flatscreen fuck me over? The game is already supposed to be hard, right?

>> No.7802260

depends, is it a tv or a monitor? Are you using digital or analog inputs? If your input is digital and you're using a monitor and not some huge TV, the lag wont be that bad

>> No.7802290

Rayman's not that bad, people just get filtered by the difficulty spike known as Bongo Hills. The other issues are that extra lives don't respawn and tings reset when you die, but once you resign yourself to using the lives/continues code, you'll have a much better time.

Also, PS1/Saturn > PC > Jaguar > everything else.

I know you probably don't like fangames but there's a fanmade version of this that lets you play it in Widescreen. https://gamejolt.com/games/raymanredemption/340532

Redemption is good but it should be treated as a separate game, not a replacement. It deviates pretty heavily from the original.

Whoever posts this travesty needs to be told to shut the fuck up. Nobody should play this simply because it strips away the game's difficulty.

but you can literally play it with the original difficulty.

only for zoomers

It's playable. Not impossible-tier like Battletoads.

>> No.7802958

Rayman is hard as fuck, beating it requires you to 100% and the level design is ass. People saying it isn't never played it.

There's this thing where some here compulsively say that no game from before was hard, like as if there was no one calling these games hard when they came out either.

>> No.7803031

>>7802212
the hardest part is the fact that you need to find all the golden turds if you want to access the final level
reaching the point where the game blocks you if you didn't find everything isn't too bad

Lmao cope the ps version is utter shite and is only 50 percent of the real game

you're thinking of gayman 2.

>> No.7803145

Are there any official versions of Rayman 1 that had the continue fuckery fixed?

>> No.7803152

>>7803145
What is there to fix? I always assumed the continues are only there to ease players in at the start, they didn't actually mean for the whole game to have them.

>> No.7803169

>>7803152
i highly doubt they intended the whole game to make you have to grind for lives every time you restart from a Gameover, not even giving you the default number of lives you start with with a new game. If you run out of continues, you might as well delete your save file unless you like spending 80% of your time farming lives in order to actually work on progressing through new stages later on in the game.

>> No.7803172

>>7803152
also dev interviews stated that they literally did not play test the game, dont know if that was for all versions though, but probably for the first released.

>unless you like spending 80% of your time farming lives in order to actually work on progressing through new stages later on in the game.
That's exactly what I did.

>> No.7803223

The levels are good but the life system is horrendous.

You can grind for lives and with a save system the game really encourages this. Even if you want to go balls to the wall and just try to beat the game without grinding the hidden cages absolutely requires you to sacrifice lives hunting them down.

Yeah that's dogshit. You shouldn't have to do that.

Literally just hit up, down, right, left when you're low on continues, it'll give you ten. This isn't a one-time thing, you can use it anytime your continues are low. There's a 99 lives code that you can use too, though I find it fluky, so I just use the simpler continue code.

If that sounds like cheating, seriously ask yourself whether farming for lives, i.e. busywork, somehow makes it better, like it's your "penance." And the game obviously doesn't want you to do that anyway, considering 1-ups don't respawn, tings reset when you die, and the bonus rounds cost tings and are awful.

Now you can play the game. You're welcome.
