Rayman is so strange because even though I played the shit out of 2 as a child, and there's been a solid chunk of games in the series, I can't describe Rayman's world at all, I'd never be able to point at something and say "that looks like it belongs in a Rayman game" the same way you can very vividly visualize the aesthetic of Mario, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank, etc. It's an extremely vague mishmash of surface level fantasy, but dark and shadowy, that's the best I can describe it. Rayman 2 was a great game tho.

Every game mechanic in the game is flawed. Battles suck. All the RPG leveling mechanics suck. The magic system sucks and is unbalanced. The entire thing just feels like the prototype for a real game 9 months out from release that's been polished enough to not seem actively insulting to the player.
The only reason anyone has ever played Quest 64 is because "it's an RPG on the N64".

I remember hating this game because the character's movement speed is way too fucking slow for how large and empty the environments are. Right at the start of the game they force you to go down a bajillion stairs for no fucking reason. Like you enter a door, go doen some stairs, enter another door, and then go down some more stairs. What the fuck was even the point? Just have the door lead to the room at the bottom of the stairs.

I think I ended up quitting shortly after I reached the first town. The game doesn't make it easy to know where to go and the pointlessly large areas coupled with the slow running speed made exploring a pain.
