Can we all agree the PS1 has the best games library out of all Sony consoles?

If you pay me for it I'll back you up on this one, OP.

Yes

PS3 library includes PS1 library perfectly unless youre sperg about smoothing, and if youre the tiny few who has the original PS3s you have ~80% of PS2 library in HDMI just like PS1 HDMI and then youre coming up with 3 gens now, you can play entire series like metal gear solid and in metal gear solid HD collection they reprinted the PS1 disc for the intent of you playing it on the PS3, goes to say that PS3 is just PS1+PS3 and if youre lucky its PS1+PS2+PS3 not to mention many of the games made for PS4 that are worth playing got PS3 ports or were originally PS3 games before they were popular on the PS4 so you have a PS1 PS3 and a select portion of PS4 games and you can add a PS4 controller if you want to convince yourself its PS4.

PS2 is better. I just looked over the PS1 library. Very strong. Ps2 has the better action games tho.

Every now and then I still come across PS1 and PS2 games I've never heard of that end up being good, compared to something like the N64 where you can sort a list of the good and bad games in half an hour
This makes direct comparison of the libraries difficult but I'd say PS2 has more unique games in the form of budget titles that tried to be something completely different either to stand out or because the devs genuinely thought it'd make for a fun game and that makes the library better as it's just more interesting to browse than PS1

It's easy to see why. PS1 showed everyone else how it was done, but at the same time development with less than a dozen people was still a very feasible thing. Budgets crept up during the PS2 gen, team sizes increased, etc. Nothing was getting cheaper and development became less accessible. PS3 hit in the middle of a financial crisis and a technological mess, suddenly became a lot scarier out there.

It's not a problem Sony caused, but it's a problem you can identify with Sony's platforms over time - truth is it affected every platform.

NOT trolling AND NOT counting support for PS1 Games. I'd say its the OG PSP. How many sony games do you actually replay besides FF7 and Crash? None?

PSP you got castlevania, megaman, disgaea, ff tactics, god of war, persona, ext. And its portable...

the psp and vita are ignored too often in these types of discussions. Even ignoring any sort of backwards comparability the PSP has a pretty killer library- that in many ways he pairity with the ps1.

Because Sony was the only company that was like "Gimme a bucket of chicken and I'll let you release a game on my console." Sega was basically a mess at the time, and Nintendo is notoriously strict when it comes to the games released on their consoles.

Also it was a time where 3 dudes in a basement could make a top selling game in like a year. All of those games were shoved onto the PS1.

Sony consoles also have a reputation for continuing to get games, particularly sports titles, well into the next gen. The final FIFA game released on PS1 was FIFA 2005 for example. Nintendo consoles typically aren’t like that.

The PS1 struggled with 3d platforming. Sure there were games like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, but they were nothing like what was on the PS2. Also the arcade fighting and racing games were further improved.
