>Low on sanity
>Have to use the "Finish him!" prompt on downed enemies and watch the animation 6 or 7 times so they don't get back up again
>10 more enemies spawn in and lower your sanity back down to zero and there's not a damn thing you could have done to stop it

Agreed
Really not a fan of this title
Big letdown after hearing all the hype

It's more "the game is tedious until you have certain spells, then it becomes piss-easy"

>> No.9381806

I was hoping the N64 was going to be in the gigaleak. I wonder how different it was.

In what way? I never had a problem with this game outside a few areas, really its just when you choose Xel'owhatshername and your sanity goes down to zero in like two seconds of encoutering a monster.

The atmosphere and setting alone makes me love this game. The combat is fine enough, don't really understand people who complain about it.

It's a great Lovecraftian atmosphere, but the game has not aged well. I beat it four times back in the day when it came out to get the secret ending and I don't really think I'll ever pick it up again. Fond memories though.

Oh cool, the game's story takes place across the world and throughout history. I bet that'll lead to some really creative levels and interactions:

>Tomb level, temple level, catacomb level, re-use of temple level, re-use of catacomb level, re-use of main hub with barely anything different, re-use of tomb level

Oh

It's a staple in this genre

Oh? A WW1 level? Awesome, can't wait to see what the setting is:

>It's the same cathedral from two other levels

I have played the game on release and immensely enjoyed it and I have finished it for the n-th time just a week ago to commemorate its 20th birthday and I still enjoy it.

On the last level I just turn on invisibility and run past everything I can.

The game was originally made for the N64 and then ported over during development when the gamecube came out so that probably explains the limited number of areas. Too bad we never got a sequel, it could have been amazing if was given a decent budget and focus instead of that piece of shit flop 2 human.

Eternal Darkness is one of the better executions of a game reusing assets over and over again. Specifically Roivas Manor, the Cathedral & Mantorok's Temple never felt particularly tedious for the number of times we had to retread each location since each iteration changed things up enough that it felt somewhat fresh. The Persian City gets used a few too many times though.

Yeah I thought it was cool seeing the familiar areas in different settings.

Two funniest parts of the game are when you see the stupid Purple monster stuck in the temple and it has big eyes and can't do anything, and when the red lobster crushes the guy in the cathedral and ends the chapter.
