probably a lot of confirmation bias on my behalf, but i feel like a lot of people that are drawn to Polka over other vtubers, even through language barrier, feel some kind of vibe or soul that resonates with them.

more than just like, 'i like their singing', 'they are hot', 'they are funny/entertaining when playing games', etc.

i get those raw "idol" emotions, of an underdog overcoming, when Polka succeeds - like her 1m subs moment. but to be honest even when she puts out an amazing cover song of performs at 3d lives.

she never would have made it through the meat factory of traditional idols, all waif smiling girls with cardboard cut-out personalities. but we've had the chance to see just how amazing a performer and entertainer she is thanks to vtubing.
