I blame the modern world. The same thing is going on with movies. Nobody wants to give anything new a chance, so game companies and movie studios keep churning out sequels, reboots, and the same style of content.
Hopefully soon people will get over this trend of rehashes and we will start seeing new concepts.

I'm a student but I've been searching for something over the summer. Software dev internships are a pain in the ass to get though because every CS student wants one and there are not enough to go around. May go back to my old job for the summer. Its not the best but its far from the worst I guess.

Damn that's a lot of responses. So from what I understand, games that incorporate gacha are usually idle type games like cookie clicker or clash of clans??? Or are there just some where the sole mechanic is just rolling for pngs?
I understand that we have the same games in the west, but from what I've seen they are treated differently. Western games tend to be about building a base or a farm or something. While these japanese gacha games tend to just be about collecting the things.

This is probably the biggest thing I don't understand. Do people watch anime episodes of gacha characters?? Do people really become attached to characters in one 30 minute cutscene?
