You have your things slightly out of order. Though trinity has and is used objectively, just as a subtitute for inamegura, or however you'd want to call the combination, looking at the direct usage of the word early on, it was rather tribalistic in its usage practically from the start. Being mad at people just for using the word objectively is silly, of course.

So I went digging. The first weeks of these threads were quite wild with shitposting, so I (and not many others either) never really noted trinityfags until last weeks of september.

First ever mentions of trinity. Interestingly, happened before than trio. First ever trinity mentions are related to the early powerhouse that was the NA stream chain, with Ame, Gura and Ina streaming right after each other. I have no idea if the third mention implies 5ch was doing it or not. But anyway after these, trinity was not mentioned in a long time.

Next time trinity was mentioned, seems to have been during the membership activations, and after the first couple posts, it's quickly adopted by shitposters. Trio still used also.

And after this trio and trinity just becomes part of the vocabulary. Trying to document further is pointless, because it's used so much. Not exclusively shitposting, there are more decent posts, but especially when looking at posts that use those words, they are more on the tribalistic side.

Shortly after, some anon claimed he was an early trinity shitposter, who didn't mean to be tribalistic. I remember this post, and I feel like I've misquoted it at some point later on, and may have contributed to the idea that early trinityfags were supposedly not doing it for tribalism.

Now, consider Takamori for example. Is it inherently more or less tribalistic than Trinity? I don't fucking know. It's hard to not sound tribalistic when what you are doing is using a name that connects 3 out of 5 members of a group together. In the end, you should read the archives, and not just what I linked, since I mostly linked the starts of different "phases".
