I never finished Sonic 06 so I don't know the significance of that song, but no matter the quality of the games Crush 40 always figures out how to make it work. Even in something like Sonic & the Black Knight, where instead of the final boss theme being sung from Sonic's perspective like it usually is, this one is actually sung from the final boss' perspective because in a way Sonic is the villain for wanting to doom another world to its prophesized destruction instead of letting the final boss freeze it in time to preserve her home, because in Sonic's eyes a life that never ends is not a life worth living.
