I hope the first thing her coach does is instil some lasting confidence in her. Ame's singing is always a lot better when she doesn't restrain herself. The irony is whenever she tries to hide her singing flaws, she ends up sounding worse.
And as you said, singing songs she knows and that are within her actual vocal range is a good way to get better. I'm sure the teacher will point her in the right direction.
