I will say, you're making a good point, but there's something important that should be added to this logic.
The other anons are right about how HOLOS can take long breaks and be generally fine. And Niji COULD'VE done that, but there's a problem:
Holos are able to take breaks because of the Holobox effect. Knowing that, even if your oshi is gone for a while, other girls are there to pick up the slack. That's an important part of the Holobox, it's keeping people around even during their main girl's absences. They're all very different in terms of streaming content, but the throughline that the Holobox gives them means that it's fine to jump from one to another while waiting for your main girl.
NijiEN fucked this up TREMENDOUSLY. They're all so different from each other, and have such an insanely broken down box, that they can't benefit from the Box Effect anymore. The only slightly surviving throughline that they had for Holobox-style stuff (the Hololite Box that was existing with Pomu, Selen, Rosemi, Maria, etc) got shattered by the one-two punches of Pomu's graduation, and Selen's termination.
The whole box shattered. And now they won't really have a strong safety net for breaks.

I go out more, I meet people more, I'm more confident talking to people, I even look better and put more effort into how I look, I was even THIS CLOSE to going out with a cosplayer at one of these cons (if another anon didn't cockblock me) because of that, and it's all because of IRyS. I have a nice job, I help people, I'm continuing education, and I credit at least like, a third of that to her and the motivation to be a better version of myself that she gave me.
For all the money I've put into her, I think I've gotten back more than that in value, even if it isn't in money. That's the best part of falling for an idol, to me: you have a goal to forever run forwards for. An Avalon to chase.

I mean, all you have to do is look at her, and you get it. At least, I think that's how it was for me, I think. It took me a good while to realize that she was my oshi, but by the time the first month was over, I just knew, you know? She had chosen me, the same way every girl chooses people who will see them as their oshi.
Her laugh is just incredible, you know? And she laughs, and laughs a lot. There's so many things that she finds funny. It's part of her general attitude that I can't help but respect. The role of "Hope" really fits her well, because she takes everything in such stride, it's very rare for her to be super serious or extra sad about something. Even when things get tough, she looks for the bright side of it all, finds something to be happy about, something that keeps her going. So for her, finding something funny to laugh about is surprisingly simple.
Speaking of simple, you'd think that would be a negative, but not at all, I think it's a massive positive in some ways, the simplicity that she goes with at times. Of course, you've got the "pon" nature that she has, that's a way someone can call another person "simple." But I mean that more in the way of how she is in regards to what she enjoys. She doesn't need to come up with convoluted excuses for why she enjoys something, or make these really deep points about why this or that is so much better than that or this. If she sees something she likes, she likes it. Simple as that. Uncomplicated, and earnest, in such a cute way.
And of course, speaking of cuteness, that's something she has in droves. The way she speaks, that little affect she puts on the end of some words, it drives my heart wild. She does it a lot in Japanese, but sometimes you hear it while she's talking in English, and frankly, it's just the cutest thing in the world, when she ends her words just ~ like~ this~! I could fall asleep to the soothing sounds of her voice, and I have multiple times. It's like falling into the arms of an older sister at times, someone who will let your worries fade away as you go off to never-neverland.
And of course, she's an incredible singer. I love her voice as a singer, too. Her karaokes are always full of fun, I especially appreciate that she goes the extra mile for those encores each time. The little tease she gives, only to finally give in and put on her last sets, I know the score by now, but every time she does it, I feel that flutter in my heart. It's the best feeling in the world, when she goes the extra mile just for you. And her EPs, her solo releases, they're such good songs. That last EP, QB, it's such a good set of songs. I put those on my playlist all the time, she's just so good in them. And One Step at a Time, it's my favorite song of hers. That song in itself can make me feel all sorts of things, it's like I'm right there by her side at times.
And even the things that people could think of as flaws are incredible positives about her. She has such a lack of self-control at times, but how does that manifest? Nearly every stream of hers ends up going four hours or more, she's devoted to it when she's on and active. If she didn't go overboard with singing for those albums all the time, she'd be going overboard on streaming, and even with the VSinger schedule that she has, she manages to squeeze in so much time with us that I find it insane. I'm always incredibly grateful for it, of course, because I know that you have to value your time with your oshi for as long as you have it, and I do, I do in droves.
And she has this cute little temper that shows up sometimes, because despite being quick to have banter with some other Holos, she's a glass cannon. If you get a good barb in on her, she nurses it, becomes a bit pouty, goes into her bratty voice and scolds you for a bit, before making you promise to make it up to her. And before long, she's back to her normal, cute self, but that side of her is just as cute, I think.
And all of that is without even touching on the seductive side of her, which is less "conscious choice," and more "her nature." You truly could've told me that she was a succubus and I'd believe you, because she just has a way of naturally drawing me in, like a fly to a honeypot. But what kind of fly could resist a honey that's so sweet? You could tell me that I'd die if I kept following this path with my oshi, but honestly? I don't think I'd stray from it at this point.
So, you wanted me to tell you how much I love IRyS? That's just the tip of the iceberg, honestly. Since the first time I watched her, I felt electricity run through my spine when she first descended. Well, after the third time she did, at least. And that electricity, even a year later, has never really gone away No matter what, I don't think it ever will. She's my oshi, after all, the one and the only.
In conclusion? I love IRyS, and I will always love IRyS. Till the very end.
