Don't feel shy about reaching out for possible proof reads after the fact, or challenge yourself to do a couple more proofreading passes than normal. It's a skill that never hurts to keep sharp.

That problem is sometimes like a coin flip for me. If I go with writing until something sticks, it is a true method, but how many iterations of ideas or scenes it takes for it to strike that correct feeling for me is pretty variable. At the same time though, inspiration can strike whenever. I'd just say take the route that allows you to keep having fun. You'll get there.
