What a smarmy ass. Of course hololive girls are treated as idols. That is an integral part of their popularity, and why many men are willing to dump so much money onto them. It's part of the evolutionary instincts of men. And because they are virtual, we can maintain a useful separation from their real-life selves. Like we know Amelia's roommate had a boyfriend for years, but it does not impact Amelia the character, just like how we don't care that the woman voicing an anime loli is actually a 50-year-old mom, as long as we see nothing of that in the official anime.
What this smartass is trying to do, is stepping into that world of anime, interfering with the virtual characters, breaking the supsension of disbelief, and invalidating the fantasies. Of course he is free do so, and the invididuals behind the characters are free to collab with him. But so am I free to turn my attention to others who can provide a better anime fantasy. It's my wallet and I am paying for an experience I want, not to satisfy his dreams of meeting or fucking vtubers or whatever.

The fact that I don't like Nyanners, doesn't mean that I will go out of my way to harangue and harass people on twitter or whatever to try to stop the collab. We have lives. There are already 20+ vtubers I fail to keep up with, so not watching this collab doesn't really change much for me. Though I admit I will have to cringe really hard, if I have to keep seeing fan art of Nyanners + hololive. The worst scenario is the fanbase getting infected by the vshit wokefaggots who will make the complaint that Gura is loli trying to appeal to lolicons, or start some other political shit.
