In this late hour, I bring you the craziest of rrats. Gentlemen, I present:
THE INVENTED SUSPENSION
(tl;dr Eri and Riifu are in cahoots, and planned this whole thing together)

Something that always struck me as odd with the management angle everybody has been pushing lately is that Riifu's last day before her break got cut off abruptly. If you're doing a planned punishment, you don't suspend an employee five minutes before their stream, you wait until they're done. The phrasing of "unforeseen circumstances" makes a lot more sense if you assume some kind of sudden unforeseen event *did* happen.
Now what kind of sudden unforeseen event could force a chuuba to retire for a few days, *and* would be absolutely disastrous to her streaming career if exposed? A romantic break-up! In addition, if Riifu was currently living with her partner, she'd have to move back with her parents or find another place soon, which would result in further breaks in streams, which would be highly noticeable for an everyday endurance streamer, and would need to be accounted for somehow.
So what do you do? You can lie and say a relative died, of course. But for whatever reason (probably because it'll get found out through her PL anyway), Riifu instead chose to go with this crazy plan which takes her absence and makes it look like a... management-mandated suspension.

This was of course worked out with Eri in advance, sometime between the initial "unforeseen circumstances" ohshit moment, and the official announcement on the EIEN channel. Riifu knows her fans are crazy, and that they're going to schizo out. She's often told us to take our meds. If she didn't want us speculating and finding out the truth, she needed to give us some kind of rrat to play with. Enter... Eri. A literal Batman. The Lelouch Lamperouge of EIEN Project. A silent protector, there to draw the heat because she can take it.

Now, if this rrat is true, while the idea of Riifu having a boyfriend would be absolutely disastrous to some of you (go ahead Discord moderators, report this post), I think there's a silver lining to all of this. An absolutely beautiful, incredible, silver lining.
Whoever Riifu's partner was, they were obviously aware of Riifu's actions and proclivities. Like, she's got a whole fucking camming room set up at her place. Despite that, it was her time with us that proved to be the particular deal breaker for this person. And I doubt this was sprung on her all of a sudden, in a scenario like, "Hey babe, I've really enjoyed our time together, but you becoming a semi-famous 3view vtuber for the past month has been too much, I'm ending this here and now." There was likely an ultimatum. And you know what? She chose us. She chose a bunch of weird, gross, horny degenerates that she's known for barely over a month, over her live-in boyfriend. She could have continued with her camming career. All she needed to do was drop the vtubing, hell, maybe not even completely, maybe just to a specific degree. And she couldn't. When presented with a choice, she chose us. I don't know why she did it, but she did. Riiflings, I hope you feel pride in your chest and go to bed with a head full of dreams tonight, because you know the luck of having an oshi who truly, unironically, loves you.
