Exile states are a fun concept. Historically I can only recall one case, and it was the Empire of Brazil (Portuguese Crown). Britbongs getting kicked out and then re-establishing their powerbase in Code Geass was some interesting attempt at worldbuilding. I suppose other real-world examples of synthesized states exist, but they're mostly just post-colonial states. Nonetheless, the anglification of Hong Kong and the Sinification of Singapore are not less interesting. And The Philippines is just Mexican Asia and very distant from its SEA brothers.
