I think this was a big step up from the previous two chapters. The fight scene was kind of dynamic, even if it started out more like a turn-based game where Watame only attacked when Anon was pushed back, and Anon attacked after Noel deflected Watame's attack. But later on they were actually fighting together, which was nice. Also cool to see the limitations on Watame's buff magic, being that it affects everyone who hears it and not a specific target. And Watame being able to use the spell book is also intriguing.
The second half was a bit more forgettable, but I blame that on it literally just coming out of an action scene, and me reading this during my commute where I'm basically still half asleep.
Lastly two criticisms: In the fight it shifts the POV into Watame's mind for a paragraph (which is unusual for 2nd person, but whatever), but the paragraph after that is in 3rd person for some reason. Second thing is when Anon tests the new spell, Mr. Shiranui mentions "then turn your opponent’s own force against them", but there was nothing that indicated the output strangth of the spell to be what the shield absorbed. So either Mr. Shiranui already knew about the spell or he just made a baseless assumption.

I actually got through this chapter quite quickly (for my standards), but that might just be because it's also the shortest chapter in the entire series...
