Reminds me of someone telling the story of the dangers of abusing albuterol/asthma inhalers. One of the side effects is increased heart rate (which can be so bad, you feel like you've run a marathon and beyond, despite your airways being opened up and you feel like you need an extra set of lungs or to grow gills in your neck or SOMETHING PLEASE LET ME BREATHE ENOUGH). Someone had become so heavily reliant on their inhaler and used it too much that they suffered serious side effects and became a medical emergency. By the time the paramedics got to him, it was too late: I think they said the person's heart had exploded.

I didn't finish reading the article because it scared me too badly as I was already suffering alarming side effects and trying to figure out what to do in such a situation instead of immediately calling 9-1-1. It was years ago, but I'm still too scared to find the story and fully read it with a clear head.
