I love the headcanon that TX-55 is pretty much an upgraded D-Walker with nuclear capabilities. Makes sense that Venom would want the nuclear tank based after his trusty robot buddy instead of the Sahelanthropus monstrosity.

Sahelanthropus was a dead end. The Metal Gear lineage pretty much got rebooted with the D-Walker. For all people complain about V disregarding a lot of previous continuity, I always felt Kojima implied this pretty heavily with TX-55 looking pretty much like an upgraded Walker Gear/D-Walker with nuclear capabilities.
