I don't know if you've ever had a pet for 10+ years but they are unironically family you love more than a lover (yes I'm using this opportunity to shit on nyanners for giving away her cat just because her new boyfriend is allergic to them).
If Pomu gets a new cat now she'll always feel like she only got him to replace Pomusuke.
Honestly she's probably been thinking he was going to die soon for awhile which is why she wanted to get another cat to spend time with him.
The truth deep down is that she knew she'd be lonely and in pain without him and that having another cat to take care of could help her.
Yes, that's the exact same thing as replacing Pomusuke but if she got one before he died she'd be able to cope and trick herself into thinking that's not why she got one.
But if she got one now she would be constantly aware of it.
Every time she sees the Pomusuke emote in chat she's going to start hurting just like Rosemi does when she sees the King emote.

I feel the worst for Pomu because she seems like the type that puts a lot of pressure on herself to be the "unifier" even when it's at her own expense. She'll slave away to build the entire town for them and all the automation farms just so others can have fun and then she'll get more frustrated when they keep destroying the farms or stealing shit from her chests like the last server.

If she was more selfish she'd just fuck off to the other side of the map and build all the automation stuff in her own area, but she's too nice to do that.
