It's also worth noting that Florida has a large population and ridiculous amounts of ethnic/cultural diversity. We've got rednecks, swamp people, cubans, jew yorkers, rocket scientists, college kids, ranchers, retirees, meth-heads, millionaires, libertarians, puerto ricans... And that's just in and around Orlando. Of course a lot of crazy shit is gonna happen if you put all those different people in close proximity, combine that with the police record thing and we get a reputation of being a bunch of wackos (which is not entirely untrue).

No idea where the meme of Florida seceding from the US came from, as far as I know there's no major political movement of that nature unlike CA, TX, Puerto Rico, or the State of Jefferson guys. We're not politically unified enough to want to do that. But it would be one wild fucking country.
