Okay, impromptu lesson to get you started
A musical key (e.g. C Major, a minor, b minor, etc.) determines the set of notes that will be used in a song. The letter is the tonic, or the first note of the scale (a set of notes) that defines a key, and the quality (major, minor, etc.) Songs often switch between keys midsong to keep things interesting. In general, if two different recordings are in different keys, they'll sound bad together and there isn't anything you can do to fix it and still have both sound good. In this hastily recorded example below, the clarinet is in a different key from the original track, and as a result it sounds like shit
