Eh, there's not much you can really do about it; artists are always going to ride the trends that will get them the max engagement even if they don't really follow the popular things themselves. I doubt every artist that's drawn Kancolle is a diehard fan of the game, and people can always fall back on the tried and true "AU" tag if they happen to miss on a crucial detail, i.e. Ina drawing "normal" school girl Melt.

A good chunk of the time some artists that ride the trend of certain series end up becoming long-time fans themselves, but at the end of the day, until you get yourself established you're bound to have a few flubs along the away especially if you're trend-chasing, artist life is cutthroat like that.
