Probably. I feel like they got dumber because load increased, not by the amount of users, but by the amount of automatic swipe generations. If every user is constantly generating a new swipe practically all the time — a generation which takes about the same load as a full regen — then obviously, there is going to be some issues with load. In reality, them "scaling" the service is a dumber and less efficient solution than to reel it back, even just to 1.1.
