ASMR streams are basically ads, but they target a very specific demographic (not necessarily actual vtuber fans) that has a poor conversion rate to non-ASMR streams. They have a positive impact on subcount and live CCV numbers, which in turn boost the channel metrics and make it more likely to be suggested. Still, by getting more eyes on you, you have more chances to make people stay. I think all vtubers should dabble into at least short ASMR clips if they want to boost numbers, they also fairly versatile in terms of content because you can make them about anything.
