Yeah, it's because if you write a completely "fictional" version of the RM that's different from IRL, readers might soon feel that the character is "off" (since they'll still be looking for some aspects of the IRL rm, at least at the subconscious level)
I would have to say that I had more success doing the inverse -- a chuuba who has some aspects of their RM. Like, they're streamers and all that, but once the cameras are off, they're their "normal" selves. This retains the layer of fiction needed keep from crossing into full RM territory, though this also throws anon's original concept out of the window.
