3P Mahjong - a quick introduction

There's fittingly three reasons to play 3P:
- you're from Kansai
- you don't have enough friends for 4P
- Gold Room Ranked tilted you so hard when you played drunk and lost all your points that you learned it out of spite for that sweet sweet endorphine

3P Mahjong follows the same basic principles as 4P with a few twists due to only having 3 players:
- there is no North Seat, the North Wind is counted as an automatic Dora and you draw a new tile from the Dead Wall if you choose tó discard it.
YES, you CAN win off someone discarding a North this way.
- Man 2-8 (Numbers) are removed from the game. This makes Sanshoku-Doujun impossible and Tanyao much harder
- There is no "Chi"-calls in the game, you only get to Pon, making Tanyao and Pinfu a lot harder to get
- You start with 35000 points instead of 25000

Aside from that, it's just Mahjong, the difference is in statistics. Yakuman are much more probable because there's less variety of tiles in the game, ToiToi is the Go-To Yaku, and Hon-Itsu / Chin-Itsu are Kings. It takes a while to get used to but is just as fun. Numbers are bigger, so more fun.
