I have now listened to this with every set of headphones and earbuds I own, including a clip on pair from an airplane. I can now objectively say that there are weirdly specific moments where the sub bass is noticeably more grating. It actually has a small amount of bass which is already a step above most holo songs but something is weird with it, also the rap segment is genuinely annoying on bass heavy headphones like the WH1000XM4s, and the chorus immediately after it feels like it was mistimed with her vocals. My rating hasn't changed from a 5/10 but the youtube compression was definitely fucking this up somewhat, the mixing issues become more noticible in hi res but they're still nowhere near akitoba levels of fucko. Also putting this through poweramp to see the spectrum I was correct in my suspicions that the whole thing looks like it was put through a low pass what the fuck.

Incidentally yes I do hate 90% of Daft Punk's music but that's beside the point. Autotune is generally not something are terrible opposed to especially in modern music production, they're opposed to bad autotune, which is a lot more than just pitch correction. Despite how simple the concept is there are lots of autotuning systems that produce fucking horrid results, maybe because their algorithms suck or the system is unintuitive, but most likely because the user is incompetent. Spiral Tones was not nearly as hellishly mixed as Sorairo days, but it's definitely over processed for no reason at all. Rikka has a fantastic natural singing voice, the most you should do to it is maybe add a chorus or reverb and a light EQ, a full on pitch shift is straight up unneeded with him. Mori I could understand since her rapping is so syllable driven that pitch shifting might actually work if done right, but her style is very grungy and really should work with just a light distortion plugin and an EQ. What we're opposed to with Spiral Tones is unneeded autotuning, what we hated about Sorairo Days was fucking incorrectly done autotuning that actively destroyed the vocals.
